Stay Awake

“The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest” – Matthew 13: 24-30

The Kingdom of God is not an abstract place nor does it operate by dreamy principles. It is “like a man” which means that the principles of the Kingdom of God has some bearing on our normal daily affairs on earth. The man planted good seed but when men slept, he joined the slumber party. It is only when you signup for laziness that poverty comes to your door. Many men are sleeping but none tell you of the daily dangers/sufferings they experience as a result of their slackness in attitude to being awake to everything around them. Never choose to signup for things you have no outcome awareness of. When the man joined the group sleep, the enemy came to his house and field.

The Bible says he planted good seed but it didn’t say that the field was good soil nor that the man was a good man. We need good men planting good seed in good fields. The seed might be good but if the field is bad then the seed needs careful round-the-clock watch. It takes more than prayer to ensure good seed grow in this bad world; we need to be watchful. Prayer without watching is like planting without weeding; the outcome is compromised.

There were servants there to watch over the seed but none to watch over the tares. The tares just need a moment of sleep to be sown and the bible says the enemy went on his way. It takes a moment for a good field to be corrupted and often times a lifetime of watch to preserve a good seed. The world is setup to support the growth of tares; it needs no support to grow tares. It is cursed to produce thorns, thistles and tares without fail. The onus is on us to prevent access of the enemy to our fields – whatever that may be. We must be on our watch to preserve the seeds, the words that have been sown into our lives by prophecy, by revelation and otherwise.

A moment of sleep can lead to a lifetime of struggles. Even the master exclaimed that there is nothing that can be done until the end. A night’s sleep is worth the sacrifice for a life devoid of struggles; a day’s fast is worth the sacrifice than a lifetime of demonic struggles.

Stay Awake!
